Isabella Island

Today we made our first excursion to Isabella island. It was an early wake up call because we had to be in the peer around 7am to catch our speed boat. We were all ready with our bathing suits, sunscreen, cameras, and our snorkeling gear.

I wish I could say that our two hour boat ride was a smooth one. Unfortunately, at some point, the back of the boat seemed to be a picture from the Gettysburg battle. Seasickness got the best of our kids and many were in rough shape. We finally made it to the island where the marine iguanas, the friendly sea lions that were hanging out on the beach, and the blue waters made us all feel better.

After hanging out with sea lions and iguanas, we borded a "Chiva" and it took us to a lake were we fotographed flamingos. We learned that the flamingos get their pink color from the keratin found in the food they eat.

The Chiva then took us to the Isabella tortoise center. There we experienced the operation that has  been put in place to breed, develop and release tortoises into the wild.

Lunch came next followed by the best part, snorkeling. We had an amazing and fun time.

After so much activity, and a lot of fun, it was time for our return. I made sure that Dramamine was a must on the way back,  and judging by the picture above, it worked wonders.
